awesomeness are there any suggestions you could give about shading to someone who is still trying to develop their own style? and i mean something a little more descriptive other than to "just practice" i keep getting that and its not helping at all.
Okay, I had issues with this at first too. Here is my suggestion: when you think about shading, act as if your character is you. Try and think of every angle that you could possibly look at, where light would hit. For example, if the sun is setting to the west, and you are looking directly at the character, which direction would the shadows or shading on the character be going? The correct answer would be to the left. Or if the light is directly behind, all you would see if a darkened shape because there is definite angle at which it shining, besides from behind.
I hope this helped you. If you need to, get a wooden model from the store and experiment. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a note, or ask on my profile.
